Pediatric Treatment or Shonishin
Children as young as one month old can be effectively treated with a non-needle technique called Shonishin. This Japanese method originated several hundred years ago in Southwest Japan and consists of light tapping or rubbing at specific points along the acupuncture meridians. Because children are quite sensitive and have a lot of energy, Shonishin is extremely effective in balancing a child’s energy patterns and restoring their natural state of health. The treatment is done quickly, usually within 15-20 minutes, and is most effective when done several times per week until the symptoms are alleviated. After the initial problem is resolved, treatments can continue on a maintenance level once per month. A great time to treat children is around the time of the full moon, when their energy level is at its peak. Monthly treatment can boost the immune system and stimulate healthy energy flow through the meridians.
